A palladium and diamond ring
Of spherical design, pavé-set throughout with brilliant-cut diamonds and mounted in palladium, diamonds approximately 14.00 carats, ring size L ½, full UK hallmark for palladium. Palladium has been used in jewellery since 1939, and is recognised as a precious metal alongside platinum, gold and silver. Palladium, part of the platinum family group of metals, consequently shares many properties in common with platinum – it is a very white lustrous metal and does not tarnish. First discovered in 1803 by the English chemist William Hyde Wollaston, he named palladium after the ancient Greek goddess Pallas Athene. The pictorial symbol for palladium within the full UK hallmark is the likeness of Pallas Athene. The purity of the metal is indicated numerically in parts per thousand within three conjoining circles. Read More
