A pair of Victorian silver entrée-dishes and covers with Old Sheffield Plate stands The entrée-dishes and covers with mark of William Ker Reid, London, 1844 The entrée-dishes, each circular with gadrooned border, the rising domed cover with moulded border, the detachable foliage-capped ring handle with acanthus terminal, the covers each engraved with a coat-of-arms, the dishes engraved with a crest with baron's coronet above, marked on dishes, covers, handles and bolts , the plated stands on lion's paw feet with acanthus scroll and shell terminals, the two reeded acanthus bud handles with foliate terminals 11¾in. (29.5cm.) long 100oz. (3,123gr.) The arms are those of Irby impaling Methuen, as borne by Frederick, 2nd Baron Boston (1749-1825) and his wife Christian (d.1832), only daughter of Paul Methuen Esq., of Corsham House, Wiltshire, whom he married in 1775. Presumably these dishes were made to match an existing service and similarly engraved. (4)
