The embroidery of these villages is pretty well identical. Given by Mr and Mrs Ivantsheff, 1984; a pair of sleeve ends of womanÆs shift from Samokov or Stanke Dimitrov, designed with the typical sun motif of Samokov area, and axe and pomegranate motifs, embroidered in dark red and light green wool upon cotton, with unrelated cross stitch border on cuff,24.5cm x 30cm (EE-28). Brought to UK by Mr and Mrs Ivantsheff 1989, and a dowry bag embroidered in bright wools and cotton in geometric patterns, with multi-coloured edging and tassels, and backed with a striped section of crinkly cotton fabric, 38cm x 99cm (EE-31).
