A PAIR OF MINTONS PATE-SUR-PATE OLIVE-GREEN TWO-HANDLED VASES, 'LA CLE DES COEURS' Date cyphers for 1884, gilt crowned globe and impressed uppercase marks, shape no. 1722, both signed L.(ouis) Solon The cylindrical neck decorated in polychrome slip with the head and wings of a goddess reserved on a gilt mosaic ground, the reverse with a brazier flanked by hooded cobra, the strap loop handles with rosette terminals, each body finely painted and hand-tooled in white slip with a continuous view emblematic of 'The key to hearts' depicting maidens being accepted and rejected by putti enclosed in heart shaped cages, the lower body decorated with stylized lotus between classical bands, on a stepped circular foot 16 in.
