A PAIR OF GEORGE IV SILVER SALT-CELLARS WITH GEORGE III SILVER LINERS THE SALTS WITH MARK OF JOHN BRIDGE, LONDON, 1824; THE LINERS MARK OF PAUL STORR LONDON, 1815 Fluted circular, on scrolling snake feet, rising to loop handles, the liners with egg and dart borders, engraved with three crests, marked under salts and under liners, the liners further stamped '390' 4¼ in. (10.5 cm.) wide 24 oz. (746 gr.) The crests are those of Bartett, Burdett and Coutts, for The Rt. Hon. William Lehman Ash Bartlett-Burdett-Coutts M.P., P.C. (d.1921), younger son of Ellis Bartlett of Plymouth, Massachusetts and his wife Angela Georgina Burdett-Coutts, Baroness Burdett-Coutts (1814-1906) whom he married in 1881. Baroness Burdett Coutts was the youngest of five step-granddaughters of the Duchess of St. Albans. On the latter's death in 1837 she left Angela her vast property and fortune. On succession to the fortune, Miss Burdett assumed the additional surname of Coutts by Royal Licence. (2)
