A pair of George III silver wine-coolers and collars with Old Sheffield Plate liners Mark of Matthew Boulton Birmingham, 1810 Each partly-fluted campana shaped on spreading circular foot, with gadrooned borders, the two reeded handles with grapevine terminals, with plain detachable collars and plated cylindrical liners, the body engraved with a coat-of-arms, the collar with a crest, marked on base and collar bezel 9½in. (24cm.) high 142oz. (4,424gr.) without liners The arms are those of North with the Order of St. Michael and St. George beneath, for Frederick, 4th Earl of Guilford (1766-1827). Lord Guilford was educated at Eton and Christ Church College, Oxford and succeeded to the earldom on the death of his brother in 1817. (2)
