A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER SECOND-COURSE DISHES FROM THE WILLIAMS-WYNN SERVICE LONDON, 1773, MAKER'S MARK IC, POSSIBLY FOR JOHN CARTER DESIGNED BY ROBERT ADAM FOR 20 ST. JAMES'S SQUARE Each shaped circular with an ovolo border above a further beaded border, engraved with a coat-of-arms, each marked on the reverse, further engraved with a number and scratchweight 'No 9 25-14-½.' and 'No 10 24-16-½' 11 in. (28 cm.) diam. 48 oz. 13 dwt. (1,513 gr.) The arms are those of Wynn quartering Williams with Grenville in pretence for Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn, 4th Bt. (1748-1789) and his second wife Lady Charlotte Grenville (d.1830) daughter of George Grenville (1712-1770).
