A pair of George III brass candlesticks, mid 18th century, the urn sockets above ring moulded spreading stems each cast with a single knop, on ribbed circular bases, one with working push-up ejector, 21.5cm high; a further, smaller pair of George III brass candlesticks, mid 18th century, 18cm high; a pair of George III brass desk candlesticks in Neoclassical taste, circa 1790, on spreading square bases, 14cm high; a George III latten columnar candlestick in Neoclassical taste, circa 1780, 25cm high; and four various brass 18th century candlesticks, some circa 1710-20, including two faceted, probably Queen Anne examples with octagonal bases CATALOGUE NOTES: similar faceted examples from the first quarter of the 18th century are held in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (see for example museum number M.146-1939) The columnar candlestick is an example of Neoclassical design in the manner of Robert Adam similar models are illustrated in Rupert Gentle and Rachael Feild, Domestic Metalwork, 1640-1820, figs. 128, 129, 131 pp. 165-66
