A pair of emerald and diamond earclips by Mauboussin Paris, the circular basket weave design randomly set with brilliant cut diamonds and circular cut emeralds, signed MAUBOUSSIN PARIS and numbered 11255, with French poincon marks, approximately 0.40 carats total In 1896 Georges Mauboussin took control of a Paris jewellers that had begun trading since 1827, and created Maison Mauboussin. The firm exhibited at all the major expositions during the 1920's and 30's, and was awarded Grand Prix at the 1925 Paris Exposition International des Arts Decoratifs. George himself was awarded the Legion d' Honneur for his services to jewellery. Branches were opened in London, Buenos Aires and New York, and an agreement with the American jeweller, Trabert & Hoffer, saw Mauboussin's stock being bought by them and the name changing to 'Trabert, Hoffer Inc - Mauboussin'. The agreement ended in the 1950's, and Mauboussin continues to trade independently from 20 Place Vendome in Paris.
