A PADPARADSCHA SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING
A PADPARADSCHA SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING The pavé-set brilliant and single-cut diamond crossover ring, set with a brilliant-cut diamond weighing 11.65 carats and an oval-shaped padparadscha sapphire weighing 16.75 carats, mounted in 18k white gold, ring size 8¾ Accompanied by report no. 5161310333 dated 30 June 2014 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the 11.65 carat diamond is Y to Z range colour, VS2 clarity, with excellent polish Report no. 72373 dated 2 September 2014 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the 16.75 carat padparadscha sapphire is of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) origin, with no indications of heating; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the natural padparadscha possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The padparadscha exhibits a remarkable size and weight, combined with a subtle and attractive pinkish orange colour and an excellent purity. The few tiny inclusions found by microscopic examination represent the hallmarks of padparadschas from the classical gem deposits in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), also known as the "Island of Gems". Its subtle pinkish orange colour is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in the gemstone, typical and characteristic for the finest padparadschas of Ceylon. The stone has been spared exposure to heat treatment and its clarity and colour are thus all natural. A natural padparadscha from Ceylon of this size and quality is very rare and exceptional
