A Navajo first phase Ute-style chief's blanket Print Circa 1840-1850, of fine handspun churro wool with indigo dye, classic first phase Navajo Ute style with bands of cream, brown and indigo, 5'3'' H x 4'1.5'' W, Provenance: Gifted to Mr. Albert Schmidt the personal butler for Mrs. Randall Morgan of Chestnut Hill, PA, in the early 20th century; handed down by descent through the family to present owner. Condition: Overall good condition with scattered spots of soiling and scattered small spots of older repair, the largest approximately 6.5'' x 1.5'' to brown stripe at one end. Size has been reduced. Selvedge edges and fringe have been re-woven.
