A Napoleonic prisoner of war bone model of a 4th rate ship circa 1800 the hull and the decks are planked in bone over a wooden mold and held in place with brass pins. Along the topsides is a bone waist strake with carved detail. At the bow is a figurehead of a man with a sword, and at the stern the quarter galleries and the transom are carved in relief and pierced with windows, balusters and other details all in bone. The model is detailed with anchors, pin and fife rails, capstans, deck eyes, railings, companionway, double wheel, cannons on carriages, and other details. The model is well rigged with three masts, standing and running rigging with turning blocks, deadeyes, stay, shrouds, ratlines, sheets, bracing lines and other rigging details. Displayed on a pair of wood cradles painted to resemble bone mounted on a mahogany board. 22 x 25¼ in. (55.9 c 64.1 cm.) on stand
