Katalognummer: CA0919-256 A MING-STYLE ‘LOTUS BOUQUET’ DISH, 18TH CENTURY Finely painted in cobalt-blue on white ground in fifteenth century-style with a ribbon-tied bouquet of lotus, arrowhead and millet, encircled by a leafy lotus scroll below a key fret border, the exterior with a similar scroll, supported on a short straight foot. The base unglazed. Provenance: By repute the 1st Baron Stalbridge and thence by descent. A private collector, acquired from the above. Richard de Aquila Grosvenor, 1st Baron Stalbridge, PC (1837 – 1912), was a British politician and businessman. He served under William Ewart Gladstone as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury. Condition: Very good condition with minor firing flaws, some tiny surface scratches and wear, some fritting to rim. Good, lasting sound of 2-3 seconds. Weight: 1061.1 grams Dimensions: 27.6 cm diameter Note the deep, intense tone of the cobalt-blue and the remarkably unctuous glaze.
