A MATCHED PAIR OF GERMAN ORMOLU-MOUNTED BURR BIRCH OCCASIONAL TABLES ATTRIBUTED TO DAVID ROENTGEN CIRCA 1780 - 1790 Each with a three-quarter pierced galleried top above the panelled frieze with a long birch-lined drawer with central lozenge, above the milled square tapering legs headed by fluting and joined by a concave-fronted galleried undertier, terminating in caps and castors, the undertier and two sides of the back legs of one table probably re-veneered in walnut in the 19th century, both with unexplained holes to underside of upper section, minor losses to ormolu and veneers including the lock plate of one table, one with old printed label to underside, both with German custom's stamps 29¼ in. (74 cm.) high, 22½ in. (57 cm.) wide, 15 in. (38 cm.) deep (2)
