Han Dynasty, probably Eastern The horse cast in probably eleven closely fitting pieces with its left legs flexed forward, the head dramatically cast with its mouth open, wide flaring nostrils, bulbous eyes, pricked ears and a short tuft of hair flaring down into the simple squared mane, the body cast with strong muscles and accurate leg definition, the tail dressed as if for a formal procession into a knot at the end, the surface, with overall light oxidisation and incrustation (a small hole in front of the tail), 133cm.(52 1/4in.) high to the tip of the ears, max. overall length 119cm.(47in.); accompanied by a very rare model of a standing groom, small in comparison, wearing a wrap-around gown with trousers tucked into boots, his right arm straight as if holding the reins, 67cm.(26 3/8in.) high ((2)).
