Beschreibung:

A MAGNIFICENT PAIR OF DIAMOND EAR PENDANTS, VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Each detachable pendant set with a pear-shaped diamond weighing 8.88 and 8.50 cts., suspended within a circular-cut diamond independent frame, joined to a pear, marquise and circular-cut diamond cluster, mounted in platinum Signed by Van Cleef & Arpels, Nos. 10093 CS, N.Y.28223 With certificates 10293349 and 10293352 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the large pear-shaped diamonds are both D color (colorless) and VS1, each accompanied by a working diagram indicating that the stones may be potentially Flawless Magnificent and elegant are the only words to describe the firm of Van Cleef & Arpels. The superb diamond earrings here are reminiscent of similarly styled ear pendants that once belonged to Queen Marie-Amelie, wife of Louis-Philippe of France (the principal difference being that the Queen's ear pendants are set with pear-shaped pearls instead of diamonds. While the design and cuts of the stone epitomizes the elegant era of Monte Carlo in the 1950's, the regal and classical style will always underpin magnificent jewels and important stones. For an illustration of the Queen's ear pendants, see Bernard Morel, "The French Crown Jewels", Antwerp, 1988, page 327.) Both pear-shaped diamonds in these ear pendants have been certified to be of the finest quality, D color (colorless). The upper section of each ear pendant is made up of a cluster of diamonds with a circular stone in the center, surrounded by marquise and pear-shaped diamonds, much in the guise of a flower. These may also be worn with lots 162, 163 and 164 in the collection. This flowerhead cluster is similar to another pair of ear pendants, illustrated in Sylvie Raulet, "Van Cleef & Arpels", New York, 1988, page 245.
