A MAGNIFICENT AND IMPORTANT SET OF KAKIEMON-STYLE BOTTLES IN A FITTED CONTEMPORARY FRENCH 'OYSTER' VENEERED CASKET Edo Period (Late 17th Century) The nine square bottles all with everted necks comprising eight Arita bottles decorated in vivid enamels of iron-red, blue, green, yellow and black of the Kakiemon palette, each depicting with slight variations a bijin wearing a blue kimono, the long sleeves with breaking waves in red, and butterflies above autumn flowers growing beside a bamboo trellis, the shoulder with small groups of scrolling clouds, the ninth bottle French, decorated en suite , each bottle with an engraved gilt stopper Casket: 14 1/8 x 14 1/8 x 10 1/8 in.
