Beschreibung:

A Louis XV cream and green painted open armchair, circa 1770, 89cm high, 64cm wide, 45cm deep overall, together with a George III beech open armchair, late 18th century, 92cm high, 68cm wide, 47cm deep Provenance: Private Collection, The Manor House, Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions, old chips and splits. Some old repairs, some losses. NOTES REGARDING THE PAINTED CHAIR AS FOLLOW:. Wear and losses to painted decoration. The paint appears to have significant age and may be original. There is a small amount of staining to the upholstery. Some minor fraying in areas and the upholstery lifting away from the frame in a small number of areas. A number of old nails holes and fragmentary losses there where upholstery has previously been secured (see images) some minor evidence of old worm (see images) . The painted chair is of solid structure with virtually no movement to joints. NOTES REGARDING THE MAHOGANY CHAIR. Water stain to seat upholstery and dirt tot he arm pad upholstery. Some minor fraying. Some nail holes where upholstery has previously been secured (see images) some minor evidence of old worm (see images) . Various old repaired breaks that remain visible on inspection (see images) some have adjacent old losses. One arm terminal has a neatlu introduced but visible dowel/ peg joint through the top of it to secure. Later blocks glued and screwed to the interior corners of the seat rail. The joints of the legs and seat rail appear to have been later -reglued. There is some residual glue and areas of filler adjacent. The chair is of solid structure. The surface of the chair appears to have been treated with various varnishes over time (see images) The turned and reeded foot of each leg is later and vary from eachother to a degree Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
