A Life in Art: The Mallin CollectionRobert Goberb. 1954
Untitledsigned R. Gober, numbered 1/2 and dated 1997 (on the underside of the chair)cast painted plastic, painted plaster, tissues and metal drain17¾ by 12¾ by 13¼ in.45.1 by 32.4 by 33.7 cm.
Executed in 1997, this work is number 1 from an edition of 2, plus 1 artist's proof.Condition reportThis work is in very good and sound condition overall. There are scattered areas of discoloration to the chair, most notably at the feet and surrounding the tissue box. There are textural inconsistencies and variations to the patina of the drain element, including spots of oxidation and scattered minor and unobtrusive scratches, which are inherent to the artist’s chosen medium. As expected with a sculpture of this construction, a light layer of dust and scattered cobwebs have settled on the surface and within the interior of the drain.
