A Large Two-Handled Porcelain Vase By the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg, period of Nicholas I Of campana form, the body painted after Philips Wouwerman with travelers on horseback on a village road, within a gilt ciselé border, the reverse with elaborate gilt ciselé flowers and foliate scrolls on a white ground, the lower section of the vase gilt and moulded with acanthus, issuing two branch-form reeded handles, on a waisted fluted socle and square ormolu base, apparently unmarked, the inner rim with gilt inscription 'No. 8', the inner rim of the bowl under mount inscribed in green 'Semenova' and '8.' 20 7/8 in. (53 cm.) high
