Beschreibung:

Arabic manuscript on cream-coloured paper, 476 leaves, 11 lines to the page written in clear muhaqqaq/naskhi script in black ink with diacritics and vowel points in black and red, gold roundels decorated with alternating orange and blue dots, inner margins ruled in red, blue and gold, catchwords in wide outer margins, occasional illuminated devices in outer margins, sura headings written in thuluth script in white on a gold ground flanked by arabesques and vegetal motifs, one double-page illuminated frontispiece in colours and gold, corners rather thumbed, slight waterstaining, colophon states that this manuscript was copied by Mustafa, a pupil of Ibrahim Chaghari al-Misri, in Algeria, home of the Mujjahidin, dated AH 1167/AD 1753-54 [?], contemporary brown morocco with stamped central medallions and cornerpieces of gilt leather onlay decorated with fine intertwining floral and vegetal motifs, outer border tooled in gold, some crude repairs, edges worn, rebacked, with flap 292 x 195 mm.
