A LARGE CARVED YAOZHOU BOWL NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY, 12TH CENTURY The slightly rounded, widely flared sides are well carved on the interior with two leafy, flowering peony stems bearing two large blossoms and a third smaller blossom in between, the design ending at the plain area below the rim, and the exterior is freely carved with curved lines suggesting large blossoms. The bowl is covered overall with a glaze of greyish-olive color that also covers the center of the base. 8 7/8 in. (22 cm.) diam. Provenance K & Soon Ltd., Hong Kong, 4 November 1998.
