A lacquer writing table ( bundai ) Meiji period (late 19th century) Designed on the writing surface with the landscape of Mount Yoshino with hills, river, mountain cottage, pine trees and blossoming cherry trees, in gold takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, kirikane and nashiji , the river rendered in togidashi , corners and sides mounted with silver mounts cast with cherry blossoms, the underside nashiji 24 x 13½ x 5in. (61 x 34.3 x 12.7cm.)
