A JAPANESE KATANA WITH SIGNED BLADE, probably early 18th century, with 23 1/2in. curved and re-polished blade (some inclusions), gilt 'habaki' with 'cat scratches', moulded circular iron skeletal 'tsuba' with four plain spokes alternating with four of lightning bolt form, single skeletal 'hitsu-ana', short signed tang pierced with two 'mekugi-ana', mounted with a later plain black laquered hilt and scabbard.
