Beschreibung:

A Jack Hobbs Ltd "extra special" bat with additional Hobbs signature to the reverse. From the signatures the bat is from the winning 5th test played after the first 4 tests were drawn. England dropped captain Carr for Percy Chapman. They also restored Harold Larwood and 48 year old Wilfred Rhodes. The England autographs include Larwood, Rhodes and Chapman as captain which indicates it is from the test that gave England a 298 run victory, to take the series 1-0. Hobbs scoring 37 in the first innings and 100 in the second. His famous stand of 172 with Herbert Sutcliffe on a "sticky dog wicket" was largely responsible for England's first Ashes victory for 14 years. Jack Hobbs, according to John Arlott in his book "The Great Ones", was "the happiest of all with his Century in this match at the Oval".
