A HOPKINSON'S IMPROVED ALBION PRINTING PRESS NO.1007, manufactured by Jonathan and Jeremiah Barrett English, dated 1836, with distinctive toggle action printing lever and cast-iron frame with crown finial, 76in (193cm) high Fußnoten Originally designed by Richard Whittaker Cope, the Albion printing press was made under license by a number of manufacturers until the 1930's. They were used for commercial book-printing until the middle of the nineteenth century, and thereafter chiefly for proofing, jobbing work and by private presses. This example was used by the British Engineerium Press, Hove until the beginning of the 21st century. Provenance: Property of The British Engineerium, Hove. Please note that, due to its size and weight, this lot can only be viewed onsite at The British Engineerium in Hove. Viewing will be on 10th, 12th, 17th and 19th September 2019 between 10am and 3pm.
