A group of five rare English majolica Egyptian-inspired candlesticks circa 1867-70 comprising: a pair of George Jones candlesticks each modelled as a sphinx seated on a square base and supporting an urn forming the candleholder on its head; a Wedgwood candlestick modelled as the head of a sphinx wearing a blue and yellow striped headdress; and a pair of Wedgwood candlesticks, the stems molded with three sphinx-headed herms on a tripartite base, the first pair with black painted shape number 2704, the Wedgwood examples impressed WEDGWOOD, the single example with indistinct date code probably for 1867, the pair with date code XZW for 1868. One George Jones candlestick repaired, the Wedgwood examples with either haircracks or restoration to the candle nozzles. tallest 8 1/8 in. 20.7 cm
