A group of costume illustrations relating to Indian Trades and Crafts, on paper, Indian miniatures on paper, Patna School [India (probably Bihar), first half of nineteenth century] 6 loose leaves, ink and watercolour on paper, depicting farmers and street-food merchants among other trades, a few scattered spots and some light surface discolouration, overall clean and presentable copies, all blank on versos, each leaf 225 by 182 mm. The Patna school of painting took its roots from Mughal art, and used the influences of Persian and Company schools to create its own independent style. This painting technique was focused on the areas of Patna, Danapur, and Arrah in Bihar, India.
