A Great War M.M. group of five awarded to Company Sergeant Major W. Doole, Royal Army Service Corps Military Medal, G.V.R. (T-21577 Cpl. W. Doole. 5/D.T. A.S.C.); 1914 Star (T-21577 Cpl. W. Doole. A.S.C.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (T-21577 T-W.O. Cl.2. W. Doole. A.S.C.); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (T-9761 Sjt. W. Doole, M.M. R.A.S.C.) minor edge bruising to MM, generally very fine or better (5) £400-£500 Footnote M.M. London Gazette 11 November 1916. William Doole was born in 1885 and attested for the Army Service Corps at Ipswich on 6 January 1904. He served with the Headquarters Company during the Great War on the Western Front from 16 August 1914, and was subsequently awarded his Military Medal whilst serving with 5 Divisional Transport Company; for his services during the Great War he was also Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 31 December 1915). He was discharged on 5 January 1925, after 21 years’ service. Sold with the recipient’s original Certificate of Discharge and Character Certificate; and copied Medal Index Card.
