Beschreibung:

A grand piano by M. A. Stein, Vienna, circa 1805 The cherry case stained to simulate a tropical hardwood, perhaps rosewood, the lower case sides with a later gilt metal band running below an inlaid fruitwood line, later brass beading to the perimeter of the lid. Raised on four later square tapered legs. The line inlaid nameboard with later applied gilt decorations flanking a white diamond shaped plaque within a gilt frame inscribed: André Stein d’Augsbourg à Vienne. The six octave keyboard FF–f4 with bone naturals and ebony capped accidentals. Viennese action with three knee levers controlling bassoon and damper combinations. FF–F Bichord, F#–f4 trichord. Ebonised single bridge. Length 217cm, width 115cm, case height including lid and leg blocks 31cm. Literature: The Colt Clavier Collection Golden Jubilee 1944–1981, p. 11, (19) G266SV.
