A GERMAN SILVER-GILT MODEL OF A SQUIRREL NUREMBURG, CIRCA 1600, MAKER'S MARK APPARENTLY THAT OF HANS KELLNER (R3, 4032) Realistically formed as a squirrel, on spreading oval rockwork base applied with silver lizards, a frog and a beatle, the squirrel perched on a tree stump and supporting in his paws an oval shield (probably originally hung with metals) and engraved with two squirrels flanking an oak tree with pendant acorns, with detachable head, marked on base and head, the neck, cover and base struck with later French control mark--12in.
