A GERMAN HUNTING SWORD; AND A CONTINENTAL HUNTING HANGER The first circa 1640-60; the second late 18 t h Century The first with tapering blade double-edged towards the point, cut with a long broad fuller on the outer face and retaining traces of etching, iron hilt decorated with flattened mouldings, including ring-guard filled with a pierced sprung-in plate and with an additional bar projecting beneath the rear quillon, and the upper grip fitted with staghorn scales (light pitting, decorative rivets missing); the second with curved blade formed with a clipped point, etched and gilt with Hungarian warrior figures beneath the inscription 'V:Pandur' on a blued panel on both sides, iron hilt, and stained marbled octagonal bone grip (knuckle-chain missing). 24¾ i n (62.8cm) and 19½ i n (49.5cm) blades
