A GERMAN COMPOSITE INFANTRY HALF-ARMOUR Third quarter of the 16 t h Century Comprising burgonet with one-piece skull embossed with pairs of shallow flutes over the sides, drawn-up to a comb and struck with Nuremberg mark on the peak, fitted with neck lame and a pair of hinged cheek-pieces (one hinge replaced), and recessed borders with turned cabled edges, 'Almain collar' of characteristic form including shoulder defences each of six lames moving on sliding rivets, matching breast-plate of boxed form drawn-out to pronounced central keel below the middle and with strongly flanged cabled turns at the neck and moveable gussets, skirt of three lames (the upper two replaced) and a pair of long tassets each of ten lames moving on sliding rivets, the two larger lower lames each terminating in a plain inwardly turned flange, back-plate decorated with boldly incised double segmental lines throughout and retaining its original skirt lame with scallopped recessed border and matching bevelled edge, and the collar, breast-plate, back-plate and tassets all struck with Vienna arsenal mark (some leathers torn, the skirt and tassets joined by modern screws and rivets, not sold with a stand).
