A GEORGE JONES MAJOLICA PUNCH-BOWL modelled as Mr Punch lying on his back, cross-legged, being overwhelmed by the weight of a large circular bowl with a dark-blue exterior moulded to imitate orange-peel and moulded in relief with a frieze of berried holly, the interior glazed in turquoise, the smiling figure wearing a white and turquoise hat trimmed in yellow, a green and white doublet edged with yellow bands and bells, a pair of puce, yellow and white breeches and turquoise leggings, on a grassy circular base (base broken and repaired and with large associated surface chip, cracks and chips to his hat and right sleeve, a thumb and four fingers lacking, bowl with small chips, cracks and repairs), impressed GJ monogram and raised registration mark, circa 1874 8½in. (21.5cm.) high
