A George IV and Victorian silver-gilt tea and coffee service The coffee-pot, teapot, cream-jug and large sugar-bowl with mark of Rebecca Emes and Edward Barnard London, 1824 and 1826, the tea-kettle and stand, hot-water jug and small sugar-bowl with mark of J. B. Carrington & Co., London, 1896, the tray with mark of Charles Stuart Harris, London, 1895 Comprising a teapot, coffee-pot, kettle and stand, hot-water jug, cream-jug, two-handled sugar-bowl and small covered sugar-bowl, each partly-lobed bellied form and on four foliate bracket feet, some differing slightly, the upper body repoussé and chased with a band of foliage and rosettes, the foliage-and floral-capped handles with ivory insulators, the hinged slightly domed covers with detachable rose finial, the tea-kettle on three foliate scroll feet and with detachable fluted lamp and hinged domed cover, the two-handled tray oblong and with gadrooned border with shells and foliage, the tray and kettle engraved with 'VR' cypher below a Royal crown and with presentation inscription and date, the tray, 'From VR 1896' , the kettle, From VR 1897', each marked on side, cover, finial and bolt, the tray marked on reverse, the kettle and tray also stamped 'CARRINGTON & Co., 130 REGENT ST. W.' , in two lined and fitted wooden cases, the covers with brass labels engraved with similar presentation inscriptions and cypher of Queen Victoria and dated '1896' and '1897' The kettle, 12in. (30.2cm.) high, the tray, 25½in. (64cm.) long gross 249oz. (7,748gr.) The cypher is that of Queen Victoria (9)
