A GEORGE III SILVER PRESENTATION CUP AND COVER ON STAND MARK OF PETER AND WILLIAM BATEMAN, LONDON, 1807 The vase-shaped cup on pedestal foot, the foot cast and chased with fruiting grapevines on textured ground and engraved with a coat-of-arms, the lower body with stiff leaves and band of foliage, each side with applied plaque, one engraved with inscription, the other with cast classical medallion, with two cast winged female handles, the detachable cover with classical figure finial, engraved with a crest and initials, the conforming stand with three ball feet, marked under foot, on cover bezel, on finial and under base 22¾ in. (57.8 cm.) high; 338 oz. (10, 510 gr.) The inscription reads ' To the Hon b l e HENRY HAFFEY This piece of plate was Voted in the Year 1804 by the COUNCIL & ASSEMBLY of the Island of St. Vincent For his active exertions during the Insurrectrion of the charaibs & the Invastion of the French in 1795 & 1796 for his exemplary Conduct while COLONEL of the Southern Reg of MILITIA.'
