A French mid-sized brass carriage clock with push-button repeat Drocourt, Paris, late 19th century The eight-day two train gong striking movement with replaced platform lever escapement and stamped with oval DC trademark for Drocourt above number 13327 to backplate, the rectangular white enamel Roman numeral dial with blued steel moon hands, the bevel glazed cannelee case with hinged carrying handle, 12.5cm (5ins) high excluding handle. Pierre and Alfred Drocourt are recorded in Allix, Charles CARRIAGE CLOCKS, Their history and development as working from Rue Debelleyne 28 and Rue de Limoges, Paris as well as Saint-Nicholas-d' Aliermont from circa 1860. Allix describes them as makers of 'Superb' carriage clocks who were awarded numerous medals for entries submitted to various international exhibitions throughout the second half of the 19th century, including a gold medal at the1889 Paris 'Exhibition Universelle'. We do not indicate in the catalogue description whether winding or case keys are present with any specific clock. As many clocks are consigned without keys please check with the department to establish whether they are present or not prior to bidding.
