A French gilt brass cased 'oignon' pocket watch Tairier, Paris, late 17th century and later The gilt full plate verge movement with slender Egyptian pillars, large three-arm sprung steel balance, rack and pinion regulation and large foliate strapwork engraved and chased balance bridge incorporating curved pierced sector to view the oscillation of the balance to the backplate signed TARTIER, A PARIS to circumference, now with white enamel Roman numeral convex dial with Arabic five minutes to outer track and pierced gilt hand, now in a gilt brass case inset into an incomplete gilt copper repousse mount modelled as the double headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire with Habsburg crown, the watch 6.4cm (2.5ins) diameter, the mount 15cm (6ins) high.
