A French gilt-brass and black marble automaton industrial wheel clock Retailed by Conrad Felsing Koënig Hofuhrmacher Berlin, movement Number 604 25 The clock with large rotating paddle wheel carrying metal balls providing the motive force, the movement behind the paddle wheel with pierced gilt plates and three wheel train with Brocot escapement, each ball in turn falling approximately every minute into a three tier gilt-metal ramp in front of the dial, each ball dropping into an individual bucket on the conveyor belt independently driven by a spring barrel in the base, the conveyor belt tripped into motion by the paddle wheel movement approximately every minute via linked levers, the glass chapter ring with black numerals and red highlights, black painted hands, aneroid barometer above, the rectangular marble base applied with a metal mount formed as an industrial steam-driven wheel engine with removable brass cap giving access to wind the spring; together with a thick glass cover and key 23 in. (58.5 cm.) high over dome
