Circa 1900 The case enamelled overall with multi-coloured champlevé enamel to the base on foliate paw feet and to the concave moulding beneath the four detached columns supporting the breakarch top with foliate-cast moulding and surmounted by four enamelled foliate-cast urns, the arched dial with gilt chapter ring painted with black and red Roman numerals and with pierced black painted hands, the centre set with enamelled rose-pierced mount, enamelled foliate spandrels above and below with subsidiary selection discs on the left for AT SILENT; EACH HOUR; MUSIC - on the right SILENT; BIRD; EACH HOUR , the fully feathered bird above within naturalistic surroundings moving its beak, head and wagging its tail, the four pillar movement with twin barrels and anchor escapement and strike on a steel gong, the backplate stamped A.1;7524;1856 & Made in France , the bird movement just below with going barrel and bellows to the side, the musical movement in the base playing a selection of twelve tunes and with trade label above signed FABQUÉ. par NICOLE F©RES pour T.COX.SAVORY & Co.54, Cornhill, London, No. 2283, the tunes listed as follows; 1.
