A FINE POETRY MANUSCRIPT IN SAFINA FORMAT TIMURID IRAN WITH QAJAR ADDITIONS, 15TH AND 19TH CENTURY Persian manuscript on paper, 25ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 6ll. of elegant black nasta'liq script, two lines written horizontally on the left side, titles in gold thuluth script within illuminated cartouche, text within black and gold rules, a number of folios with original silhouette borders of floral arabesques and Chinese clouds, the medallions painted with figure portraits a Qajar addition, with original Timurid gold and polychrome headpiece indicating that this is Vol. IV of a work, the opening bifolio with fine grisaille illustration of an encampment, with later added library seal reading ' al-sultan al-a'zam Bahadur Shah Raj [?]', in restored Timurid binding with découpé decoration Text panel 5 1/8 x 1 ¾in. (13 x 4.4cm.); folio 8 ½ x 3 1/8in. (21.5 x 7.9cm.)
