finely worked throughout to depict a rural river scene, the foreground depicting a couple resting, to the right is a seated shepherd playing a flute and a couple admiring the hilly landscape and adjacent buildings, in a glazed and moulded walnut frame, the reverse bearing a contemporary ink inscribed leather label which has been written more clearly on a paper label above which reads 'This Landscape was presented to the Young Ladies of Monboddo by Mr Francis Douglas and worked by their Grandmother the honorable beautiful and highly accomplished Mrs Helen Farquharson at the age of 75, anno domini 1775'.
