A FINE GEORGE II CARVED GILT WOOD PIER MIRROR circa 1755 the upright rectangular mirror plate within frame edged with C-scrolls, scrolls, foliage, pendant flowers and upright leaves, the sides with small gothic style pavilions on a rockwork base with flower, scroll and icicle ornament below long molded C-scrolls with swags of flowers and leaves rising to scrolls surmounted by leaf and berry clasps, the pediment centered by a gothic style pavilion with architectural arched columns and spires on rockwork below ruffled leaves and flanked by bullrushes, the apron similarly ornamented with conjoined foliate C-scrolls and with a central cartouche enclosing a spray of flowers and with rockwork and water falls. Re-gilt. height 5 ft. 1 in.; width 31 3/4 in. 154.9 cm; 80.6 cm
