A fine French bronze and silver decorated Limoges enamel quarter striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm Margaine, No. 10394. Late 19th century The cariatides case with female figures to each angle, elaborately cast with leaf designs and with masks of Bacchus centering each side of the base raised on small scroll feet, the crimson enamel side panels applied with raised engraved silver birds on branches and also decorated with gilt painted branches with raised polychrome enamel flowers, with gilt and enamel butterflies flying to the sides, the dial similarly decorated and with a raised gilt-brass bezel framing the gilt Roman chapter ring, the painted and enamel decoration extending across the chapter disc, with gilt hands, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the cut bimetallic balance with lever escapement, quarter striking and repeating on two gongs to the backplate also fitted with a white enamel alarm-setting disc, with stamp for Margaine and numbered 10394 7½in. (19cm.) high
