A FINE EMPIRE-STYLE SIX-PIECE ART NOUVEAU SURTOUT-DE-TABLE Comprising an oval jardinière, and two circular coupes, each on mirrored plateau, the partly openwork jardinière of elongated oval form, the base decorated with a laurel band to the rim below a band of palmettes in relief and extending to openwork overlapping arches to simulate wicker work, and terminating in a reed-and-tie rim, the whole surrounded by five scantily clad bacchantes, each with hair adorned with flowers and suspending fruit and floral swags, the whole resting on a large oval-mirrored plateau, the rim mount decorated with laurel bands enclosing rosettes and further decorated with a reed-and-tie band, the circular coupes decorated to the lower section with two laurel bands enclosing rosettes, and with similar openwork and spreading gallery and reed-and-tie rim, each supported by three dancing bacchantes, scantily clad and reclining backwards with their arms extending forward to support the baskets, one with her right arm supporting the upper rim, the coupes standing on two shaped triangular mirrored plateaux, each with similar rim mounts decorated with laurel bands enclosing rosettes and with a reed-and-tie inner rim, the coupes and jardinière with matching gilt metal liners.
