With blued reeded sighted barrels each signed in gold along the top flat, inlaid with gold lines at the muzzle and breech, and rifled with seven grooves, foliate scroll engraved case-hardened breeches and tangs, the former each stamped 'Gussstahl' beneath, the latter each with blued adjustable back-sight and numbered respectively '1' and '2' in gold within a gold oval on the tail, foliate scroll engraved case-hardened detented locks each inlaid with engraved gold foliage and with a martial trophy behind the hammer, the latter each engraved en suite and highlighted with a gold-inlaid line, ebony half-stocks each carved with foliage on the fore-end and around the top of the fluted butt (one with minor split), case-hardened mounts comprising shaped border engraved pommels each drawn-out to a blunt diamond with gold-inlaid border and knurled baluster terminal pierced with holes, spur trigger-guards each inlaid in gold with an engraved sportsman in a mountainous landscape framed by scrolling foliage, trigger-plates and shaped side-nail plates en suite with the locks, set triggers, no provision for ramrods, and retaining much of their original blued and dull grey finish: in original wooden case fitted and lined in burgundy velvet with accessories including James Dixon & Sons brass-mounted powder-flask (loss of finish) with split-ring for suspensions, compartment lids each with bone knob, the interior of the lid with stamped gilt maker's details, the exterior veneered in figured walnut (minor old split) 21 cm. barrels
