Serial no. 91839 for 1859, .36 caliber. 7 1/2 inch barrel marked Address Sam'l Colt Hartford Ct. Barrel, rammer lug, frame, hammer and triggerguard/gripstrap engraved by Gustave Young with broad floral scrolls on a finely punched ground, the left side of the barrel incorporating a wolf's head with open jaws. Frame with engraved Colt's/Patent. Factory elephant ivory grips. Complete with brown velour-lined Colt casing, the partitioned interior containing unmarked American Cap and Flask Co. "Coat of Arms" flask with sloping charger (Riling 798), two cavity iron mold with Colt's Patent-marked sprue cutter, blued L-shaped combination tool and opened green label Eley Brothers tin of 100 percussion caps. Condition: Fine to excellent. Barrel retains 95% dark blue finish. Cylinder with perhaps 15% blue, mainly on rear portion. Rammer retains traces of casehardening, the frame with smooth, dark grey patina. Triggerguard/gripstrap with 90% unpolished silver. Excellent grips. Case exterior showing scratches and scattered marks. Interior lining of lid with glue remains from removed label. Lining showing some wear and staining. Flask retains much brown lacquer and traces of gilding. Mold with traces of thin blue finish. See Illustration
