A FINE CASED 54-BORE TRANTER BEAUMONT-ADAMS PATENT PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION SINGE-TRIGGER REVOLVER RETAILED BY EDWARD WHISTLER, 11, STRAND, TRAFALGAR SQUARE, LONDON No. 17,296,T, CIRCA 1863 With Tranter patent screw-in barrel fitted with Kerr's rammer, the top-strap inscribed 'Whistler London', Tranter modified Beaumont-Adams two-screw action, the frame struck with both 'HH' mark and oval 'W. Tranter's patent' mark on the left, engraved 'Adams.&.Tranter's.Patent.No.17,296.T.' on the right, the cylinder arbor pin retained by a horizontal sprung lever, with sliding safety-catch, chequered walnut butt with case-hardened cap, and retaining nearly all of its original blued finish throughout, London proof marks: in its original lined and fitted oak case, the lid with retailer's large trade label, and with some accessories including original Tranter's patent bullet mould. 11¾in (29.9cm)
