A fine and rare pair of Louis XV ormolu-mounted painted ostrich eggs circa 1760, the painted decoration in the manner of Pillement and possibly by Lebel each egg surmounted by an ormolu leafy fruit finial and decorated with chinoiserie motifs including figures, pavilions, birds and flowering branches in multicolors, the lobed triangular pierced base fitted with chameleons and with three turtles each supporting a pineapple on its back, on acorn and leaf cast feet. height 14 3/4 in.; width 7 in. 37.5 cm; 18 cm
