A FINE AND EXCEEDINGLY RARE FAUX BOIS AND GRISAILLE -DECORATED ‘LANDSCAPE’ BRUSH POT
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE IN A CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)
A FINE AND EXCEEDINGLY RARE FAUX BOIS AND GRISAILLE -DECORATED ‘LANDSCAPE’ BRUSH POT YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE IN A CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735) The brush pot is delicately painted in grisaille enamels with a continuous landscape scene resembling a hand scroll depicting scholars in leisurely pursuits, one in his study seated inside a pavilion nestled among trees; two conversing on a promontory overlooking the river; the fourth figure resting underneath the canopy of a boat accompanied by his attendant, all between superbly enamelled faux bois borders extending to the interior and base reserving the countersunk mark inscribed with the reign mark in three columns. 7 ¼ in. (18.3 cm.) diam.
